Aimee Osbourne Is Ready to Launch Her Music Career, but Not Socialize With Kelly and Jack

If you haven’t heard of Aimee Osbourne, you’re not alone. The eldest of the Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s offspring has made a point of staying out of the spotlight in which the other members of her family seem to thrive. Now 32, the aspiring musician is ready to face the realities of fame and launch her own music career, but she’ll do so without much — if any — input from her siblings.
Aimee was 18 when Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly, and Jack opted to let MTV’s cameras into their home and film their day-to-day lives for a reality show. Aimee didn’t feel like broadcasting her existence to the world, so she moved out. “Obviously, I would have liked to stay at home a little longer, but it wasn’t meant to be,” she reflected to the Independent.
Instead, she set off on her own “frustrating journey,” as she described it. “For years it felt like I was swimming in the ocean, all by myself.”
Though she avoided public battles with substance abuse like her siblings, she did fall into depression that was brought on — at least in part — by her tumultuous upbringing marked by heavy travel for her father’s tours and being surrounded by other kids of excessive privilege.
“When you are already surrounded by that kind of thing, you either surrender fully and accept it as your destiny, or you think to yourself, ‘You know what? I’m not going to try that, actually,’” she explained. “I didn’t want to do that. I kept it together, mostly.”
And now, the brunette beauty feels ready to kick off her music career under the name ARO (which comes from her initials: Aimee Rachel Osbourne). Though she hasn’t signed with a label just yet, she knows what she’s looking for in representation: someone who will let her maintain total creative control. “I never had to battle for my identity,” she said flatly. “I have always been me.”

There is no doubt that she is vastly different from Jack and Kelly, a fact that is not lost on her. “I wouldn’t say there is an ease between us,” she said of her relationship with her more fame-friendly sibs. “But there is an acceptance. … Do we socialize? No.”
While it seems that there are no hard feelings between the Osbourne children, it doesn’t look like there’s much common ground there, either. Jack and especially Kelly thrive in the limelight like their mother.
“I’ll be having lunch with my mum and she’ll complain about the paparazzi outside. I tell her that she could have worn a beanie, but of course she never does,” Aimee revealed. “She loves it — it’s how she chooses to connect with people. That’s fine, I can respect that. But I’m the opposite. I always have been.”
If her music career takes off, however, she might have to take a page from the rest of her family’s book… and learn to love (to hate) the paparazzi, too.
